Naira, on Wednesday appreciated against the dollar at the parallel market, gaining N1, to exchange at N226 to the dollar as against its previous value of N227.
This was as currency speculators feared that the central bank might come up with policies that might be unfavorable to them in 2016.
According to traders at the parallel market, the appreciation was fueled by currency speculators, who envisaged that the apex bank might come up with policies that would affect them negatively in the New Year. The greenback, however, at official inter-bank window, continued to exchange at N197 to the dollar.
