The All Progressives Congress, APC, Rivers State chapter, has said that the party will still return to Okrika and hold a rally for its governorship candidate, Dr. Dakuku Peterside. It said that was because the people needed to hear the message of the governorship candidate. The chairman of the party, Dr. Davis Ikanya, who spoke to journalists in Port Harcourt, yesterday, said that the APC had the right to campaign in Okrika just like the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. While condemning the attack on its supporters at the campaign rally of Peterside, he described the PDP as lawless. He said: "Yes, the APC will still organise its campaign at Okrika. We cannot be intimidated because Okrika is part of Rivers State. If the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, can campaign in Okrika, why can't the APC campaign in Okrika? "Yes, we have signed two different peace accords with the PDP. Sadly, the PDP has violated all known agreements. The PDP is not fit to ask for anybody to vote for them. PDP attacked our members a day after we signed the first peace accord." He said it was regrettable that despite the assurances given by the police to provide adequate security for the APC at rallies, PDP thugs continue to attack the party's supporters and destroy their property. He noted that the police was under pressure from the centre, because according to him, the police has not been able to arrest one single culprit for the attacks on the APC supporters. |
