There is nothing like Nigerian celebrity siblings making it big in the entertainment industry, especially with all the competition and limited opportunities.
But, despite all this, some incredible families have earned a spot in the entertainment industry with not just two, but three and sometimes four of the family members making a name for themselves.
Below is Stargist’s compilation of celebrity siblings making it big in the entertainment industry:
1. Paul, Peter and Jude Okoye
These guys deserve an award. The Okoyes- Jude, Paul and Peter – have been in the music industry for over 10 years and produce their songs under the label, Square records. Peter and Paul alias PSquare are the artistes, while Jude is their manager. They have major hits to their credit, such as ‘Do Me’, ‘Taste the Money’ and their most recent song ‘Shekini’.
2. Gabriel, Kunle and Aremu Afolayan
Sons of foremost filmmaker of the 70s and 80s, Adeyemi Afolayan, Kunle, Aremu and Gabriel Afolayan are big names in the Nigerian Entertainment industry, especially Kunle, who is one of the most prominent filmmakers in the movie industry today.
Gabriel Afolayan who is an actor, also launched his music career as ‘G Fresh’ and has produced songs such as ‘Kokoro Ife’ and ‘Awelewa’. Aremu could be mistaken for Kunle’s twin and is also a talented actor.
3. Dakore Egbuson Akande and Timini Egbuson
Dakore Egbuson Akande is a prominent actress and has acted in over 50 films and is an ambassador for Amstel Malta and Amnesty International. Timini, on the other hand, is Dakore’s younger brother who is in the early stage of his acting career. He plays the role of ‘Tobi’ in MTV Shuga Naija.
4. Don Jazzy and D’ Prince
Michael Collins Ajereh, Don Jazzy, is an award-winning songwriter, producer, musician and entrepreneur. Currently the CEO of Mavin Records, one of the top record labels in the continent, Don Jazzy remains one of the best producers in the industry.
Meanwhile, D’Prince is a signed to his elder brothers label and the duo are both making waves together in the music industry.
5. MI and Jesse Jagz
Jude Abaga, alias M.I is a hip hop act and currently the chairman of Chocolate City. Jesse Garba Abaga, alias Jesse Jagz, is also a top rapper and producer. He was initially with the Chocolate City Label along with his brother before he left the label in 2013 and has since started his own record known as Jagz Nation.
6. Chidiebere and Chidinma Aneke (Aneke Twins)
The Aneke twins are a popular face in the Nigerian movie industry, Nollywood. The duo have been on the Nollywood scene for a while now and are still running things on their own.
7. Dbanj and K-Switch
Popular entertainer, singer, songwriter, and businessman, D’banj has been making waves in the music industry since his hit song in 2006, Tongolo. And ever since, we haven’t had enough of the Koko master.
His younger brother, Kay Switch is the first signing of D’Banj’s DB Records and is also an artiste in the hip hop genre.
D’banj is also Nigeria’s first United Nations Youth Ambassador for Peace, and he owns the Koko Foundation for Youth and Peace Development.
