Should Rotimi Amaechi and Babatunde Fashola be made Ministers?
The All Progressives Congress, APC, has called on Nigerians to disregard names being bandied about in the media as supposed Ministers as the Senate resumes plenary on Tuesday, October 6, after its Independence Anniversary recess.
The National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Lai Mohammed, said whatever names currently published in the media, no matter how authoritative, were nothing but mere speculation and should not be accepted as the names sent by President Muhammadu Buhari to the Senate.
The ministerial list was handed over to Senate President Bukola Saraki by Chief of Staff Abba Kyari and, Special Adviser to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Ita Enang on Wednesday, September 30, after the senate plenary session.
The public sphere has been awash with names of supposedly nominated Ministers which include Rotimi Amaechi, Fayemi Kayode, Babatunde Fashola, Lai Mohammed and Ogbonnaya Onu among others
In reaction, Lai Mohammed said: “Unfortunately, the Senate is yet to read the list, so whatever you read anywhere is mere speculation.
“Not until the Senate President reads out the list on Tuesday, it will be too premature for anybody to start making a comment on who and who is on the list.

Saraki has, following the tradition of the Senate, made a decision to open the envelope and read out the names to his colleagues on Tuesday, October 6, during the plenary sitting of the Upper legislative chamber.
Buhari during his 3-day working visit to Ghana promised to announce his Ministers whom he subsequently labeled noise makers, by the end of September.
Also reacting to statement credited to Buhari that he will be in charge of the Ministry of Petroleum, Mohammed said the President, as one-time Minister of Petroleum and the Commander-in-Chief, is in the best position to oversee the very important ministry.
“I think not only all in the APC will be comfortable with that but I think Nigerians should be comfortable with it because he has been minister for petroleum resources before.
“So, he is not a rookie in the business. I think if the oil today accounts for almost 70 per cent of all our revenue, it is only proper that somebody who is knowledgeable, who has the experience and who is the Commander-in- chief should take that position.”
On Tuesday night, Buhari named himself as the Minister for Petroleum, promising to appoint a Minister of State for Petroleum eventually.
