Maria Layton bought a bag of bananas from her local grocery store and found a giant spider cocoon when she opened the bag the next day.
"The first banana had a funny bit on it, so I got another one for her and that was when I found the massive spider cocoon," said Layton. "There was a spider web on the other bananas, too." said Maria Layton.
Maria closed the bag and turned to Google, where she determined that the creature was a Brazilian Wandering Spider, one of the deadliest insects in the world.
Brazilian Wandering Spiders have enough venom to kill an average human in 2 hours. These spiders also do not build webs. Instead they hide in dark places, making it not unheard of that they end up getting shipped with produce.

Maria saw that the cocoon in the banana bag was beginning to unfurl, so she threw the bag in a box and put the box in the freezer to kill the spider.
Brazilian Wandering Spiders are natural predators and typically hunt at night when they're in the jungle.
The supermarket chain where Maria bought the bananas, Tesco, gave her a full refund. They are conducting a full investigation of the contaminated bananas.
