This report is in regards to her refusal to pay personal income tax to the Lagos Inland Revenue Service, blogger Linda Ikeji may be dragged to court for tax evasion. Based on Lagos State tax laws, this carries as much as 12 months jail penalty.
According a source within the tax agency, checks conducted on the blogger revealed that she had only paid (N4,000) four thousand Naira ever as tax to the state government.
The source also added that every attempt to track down the blogger to serve her notice of tax assessment has proven abortive as she has continued to evade the delivery man.
However, she was eventually tracked down and served the tax papers at her newly acquired N600 million highbrow Banana Island mansion on which she is yet to pay about N30 million as withholding tax to the state government.
The LIRS has however vowed that if the blogger refuses to respond to the request of the agency, it shall then be forced to drag her to court to face the music.
