The representative of Kwara Central Senatorial District in the
National Assembly, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has emerged as the
President of the Senate.
Saraki was pronounced the Senate president on Tuesday by the Clerk of the National Assembly, Salisu Maikasua.
He was the sole candidate for the position.
Senator Ahmad Lawan, who emerged as the consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the position, was absent from the chamber when the election was conducted.
Fifty-seven senators were in the chamber when Saraki emerged as the President of the Senate.
